Traveling? Working together, VNA can help travelers minimize their risks

Diane Echeverria, RN, BSN earned her Certificate in Travel Health® from the International Society of Travel Medicine (ISTM) in 2007.  Our nurses who obtain extensive training are dedicated to providing our clients the most updated travel health information for a safe and healthy trip.

With more than 61 million U.S. residents traveling internationally, a large majority of them will not do the one thing that could mean the difference between a successful trip and a disaster - get vaccinated and educated against diseases prevalent in the countries they’ll be visiting.

In fact, a study by Tufts University School of Medicine revealed that only 36% of travelers sought health advice before traveling. While the majority of travelers believed that vaccines were effective for disease prevention, few were vaccinated for their journey: 11% for tetanus, 14% for hepatitis A, 13% for hepatitis B and 5% for yellow fever.

Our Convenient Services include...

• Travel Health Trained Registered Nurses
• Pre-travel Health Counseling & Recommendations
• Comprehensive Travax Traveler Health Report

Plan ahead! Schedule your appointment at least 2 months prior to your trip.  Some vaccinations are given in a 2-3 shot series over a period of time. Some vaccines have to be administered a minimum of 4 weeks apart.  It takes 14 to 30 days from the time of the immunization for some antibody production to take place.
