HOSPICE CARE
WHY CHOOSE VNA HOSPICE CARE?
In one word, experience. No other hospice compares to Visiting Nurse Association's experience in providing hospice care. VNA is backed by a century of experience in delivering the highest quality of care to patients in their homes.
VNA Hospice Care is the only non-hospital based, nonprofit hospice in the area and one of a few to be accredited by the Joint Commission on Accreditation of Health Care Organizations, the nation’s predominant standards-setting and accrediting body in health care. The Joint Commission accreditation and certification is recognized nationwide as a symbol of quality that reflects an organization’s commitment to meeting certain performance standards. VNA is also certified by both Medicare and Medicaid and licensed by the State of Missouri’s Department of Health. For information about The Joint Commission or to report a complaint about the quality of care of any Joint Commission-accredited health care organization, go to http://www.jointcommission.org/GeneralPublic.
VNA Hospice Care has a Medical Director who is experienced in pain management. The Medical Director is available to make visits to patients in their homes or nursing homes, which is a unique service among local hospices.
VNA Hospice Care’s volunteers are among the very best, nationally recognized for their excellence in service and commitment to care and compassion. They have received prestigious national, regional, and local awards and honors including Visiting Nurse Associations of America’s Outstanding Service Award in 2006 and 2007 and the St. Louis Rams’ Quarterback Volunteer of the Year Award for four consecutive years, including 2009.
VNA Hospice Care is also pleased to include four-legged friends among its volunteers. Dogs and cats like to volunteer their time as well, and are welcome visitors in many homes and nursing homes through the “Love on a Leash” program.
VNA provides hospice services without regard to the patient’s ability to pay. VNA is a charter member of United Way of Greater St. Louis and receives funding via personal donations as well as community support to help provide services for those who do not have Medicare, Medicaid, or private insurance or who are under-insured.
Patients and/or their families have the right to choose their hospice care provider. While the types of services provided under hospice are regulated, not all hospice care is equal. The level of care, quality, and manner in which the care is delivered can vary greatly. It is important to choose a hospice care provider that you trust and that can meet your individual needs. There is a difference in hospice care providers. The right choice can mean so much to you and your family during this most difficult time.
